Import a PDF bank statement into QuickBooks Online
QuickBooks Online imports bank transactions from files such as OFX and CSV, not from PDF statements. If your bank only gives you PDFs, convert first and import the result.
1. Convert the PDF
Use a text-based statement downloaded from online banking. Convert it and export an OFX file. OFX carries dates, signed amounts and a unique ID per transaction, so importing the same statement twice does not create duplicates.
2. Check before importing
Compare the number of rows and the total with the PDF. A missing page or a flipped sign is easy to fix before import and tedious after.
| Date | Description | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| 02 Oct 2026 | Greenmarket groceries | -42.50 |
| 03 Oct 2026 | Salary payment | 1,200.00 |
3. Upload to QuickBooks Online
In QuickBooks Online open the bank transactions area, choose to upload transactions from a file, select the OFX file and pick the bank account it belongs to. Review the imported transactions in the For review list before adding or matching them. Menu names change over time; QuickBooks help has the current steps.
StatementNest exports Excel, CSV and OFX, and links every row back to its page so you can check it first.
