Password-protected bank statement PDF: how to convert it
Some banks protect statement PDFs with a password, often your date of birth or account number. Converters cannot read a locked file.
If you know the password
Open the PDF with the password in your PDF reader or browser, then use Print and choose Save as PDF. The new copy keeps the text but has no password. Convert that copy and delete it when you are done.
If you do not know it
Check the email or letter from your bank, or download the statement again from online banking, which is usually not protected. Do not use password-cracking tools on financial documents.
| File | Protected | Converts |
|---|---|---|
| statement-oct.pdf | Yes | No |
| statement-oct-unlocked.pdf | No | Yes, if the layout is supported |
StatementNest refuses protected PDFs rather than guessing, and your files are processed in your browser, not uploaded.
